My practice is a general business practice, and I often serve as outside general counsel for start-up to mid-size businesses that have no in-house counsel. My practice includes most aspects of business operations, including formation of the business entity, drafting of operational documents, handling of contractual matters, employment matters and other issues that arise in the day-to-day operation of a business. Although the bulk of my practice is focused on commercial real estate (office and retail leasing, acquisitions/dispositions, development and finance) and residential real estate (home builder operations and M&A), I represent a diverse set of clients, including technology companies, business consultants, retail operators, restaurants, marketing companies and physicians.
My clients often consult me for general legal information, even when they are involved in an area of law that is not one of my practice areas. Part of my role is to refer my clients to the best lawyers and law firms available when my clients' needs exceed my expertise. I have spent years developing referral relationships for, among other areas of law, commercial litigation, intellectual property, securities law and employment law.
